Thursday afternoon and dinner

Cultural trip

After the conclusion of Thursday’s afternoon conference session, participants are warmly invited to join a guided tour (iformation text in ENGLISH and GERMAN) of the small hydroelectric power plant “Hučák” – MAP.

Thanks to this remarkable facility, the city of Hradec Králové became a pioneer in the use of renewable energy since 1909! At that time, it stood at the forefront of what we now recognize as the environmental movement. Over a century later, the plant remains a symbol of sustainable innovation that continues to resonate with today’s ecological values.

Post-Excursion Recommendation: Walk through Jiráskovy Sady

After Thursday’s excursion to the small hydroelectric power plant, we warmly recommend a relaxing walk through Jiráskovy Sady, a beautiful park located at the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers in Hradec Králové.

The park is a favorite place for both locals and visitors to enjoy greenery, riverside views, and peaceful walking paths. Its most remarkable landmark is the wooden Church of St. Nicholas, an authentic example of traditional Carpathian wooden architecture, originally built in the 16th century in today’s Ukraine and later moved to Hradec Králové.

A stroll through Jiráskovy Sady offers a pleasant combination of nature, history, and culture, making it a perfect way to conclude the day’s program.
